In this post, we will (re-)introduce you to the King County Jail lookup online portal. It’s got a new website and a new look. As always, we are not lawyers or acting in a legal support capacity, just imparting info we have learned along the way!
If your friend(s) was/were arrested at a demo in King County, start here. You can search by legal name or flip thru the pages of the people booked in the last 24 hours. If there were a lot of arrests, booking can take HOURS after the arrest. Patience is unfortunately important here.

Once you’ve found who you’re looking for, click on the little arrow at the bottom to find more info about their charges etc.

Two things will be important right away. One is “facility” (blue arrow below) King County Correctional Facility is the DOWNTOWN jail. The Maleng Regional Justice Center is the KENT facility. The other is “total bail amount” (red circle below). The bail amount being blank or $0.00 means bail has not been set yet.

The “charges” tab will give you more in depth info about what charges they have been booked into jail under. Please keep in mind that a charges (esp under the INVESTIGATION status) can change so don’t stress too much on what they say this early in the arrest process.

The bookings tab will give you the most up to date info about your friend’s release status. The old website used to give an update called “pending release” but it does not appear that the new site does, which makes tracking possible release times much harder 😡.

As always please reach out with questions or for more info if you need it. Getting familiar with this site and other things you need to know before an arrest happens is always easier so don’t hesitate to reach out early.
